SINGAPORE: Starting Aug 1, the Vehicle Entry Permit fee for foreign-registered cars entering Singapore will be raised from S$20 to S$35 per day, while the Goods Vehicle Permit fee for foreign-registered goods vehicles will be raised from S$10 to S$40 per calendar month, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Tuesday (July 1).
The Vehicle Entry Permit fee increase only applies to foreign-registered cars and will not affect buses or taxis, the LTA said, adding that the fee for foreign-registered motorcycles will remain unchanged at S$4 per day.
Foreign-registered cars entering Singapore will have to pay the permit fee from 2am to 5pm on weekdays – except during Singapore’s June and December school holidays, when the chargeable hours will be 2am to 12pm on weekdays.
As per current regulations, no permits for foreign-registered cars and motorcycles are required on Saturdays, Sundays and Singapore public holidays. In addition, each foreign-registered car and motorcycle can enter Singapore for a maximum of 10 days per calendar year without having to pay the permit fees.
Owners of foreign-registered goods vehicles can continue to purchase the Goods Vehicle Permit at the current fee of S$10 for July. However, permits with a validity period beyond July will be charged at S$40 per calendar month, the LTA said.
The transport agency said in a statement on Tuesday that the fee increase is part of its periodic review to ensure that “the cost of owning and using a foreign-registered vehicle in Singapore is commensurate with that of owning and using a Singapore-registered vehicle”.

Seriously ridiculous. We are coming to singapore and spending our money at tourist destination and shopping yet still have bear the increased VEP cost. Why? You guys still earning from us… In that case you suppose to charge Singaporean as well whom flawing the causeway during weekends
Its time sporeans r charged too as they shop here and caused the cost of living in JB to increase…this has caused an uncrease in social ills n lack of mannerism too due to the kiasu characteristics…
They ruined the property market where most bought by sporeans and increase of …
Roads are jammed on weekends…so its time to put a stop to this .
Wish the Msian govt will learn frm this.
Are malaysia going to charge anything for those foreign registered cars??
Plus ERP total = 40 dlr…!!
Sg govt money nt enough la
Mysia gov. Shud do the same to be fair !! Charge RM40 to those foreign registered cars
If the LTA chargingbus like that, why Malaysian Goverment dont want apply any charges to Singapore registered vehicle… nowdays the heavy traffic caused by singapore vehicle’s entering from JB, not foreign registered vehicle….hello pls do wake up n see before take any decision….
High time Malaysian government charge Singaporean registered cars the equivalent for entering Malaysia. They’re having a great time filling up on our subsidised petrol, promoting inflation and making everything expensive for us….
Well its spore their country…then don come don spend ur $$$ there…everything abt spore is all $$$$$$$…
Ringgit compare to Sing Dollar…how to fight? U can stay in Malaysia all U want… what u spend there in Singapore is peanuts compare tp what they spent in Malaysia… malu lah sikit
I am proposing to the Malaysian Government to levy a entry permit fee as par value with what LTA imposed on foreign-registered vehicles for Singapore-registered vehicles entering Malaysia via the casueway and Secondlink.
I guess Malaysia is looking at bigger revenue as bigger the crowd of foreigners so called tourists the better business after all…so levy applications to foreign registered cars may impact that bigger income ….may loose the cikus to catch the duriansD24 …just an opinion
Absolutely. I agree. Make it difficult for Singaporeans to spend in Malaysia so that Singaporeans will spend money to benefit their country.
